The B2 platform proved to be both quite versatile and quite profitable; many components were shared to or borrowed from the Audi Coupé, Audi Quattro and Audi Sport Quattro, which in the process helped to cement the company into the public eye after their quattro permanent four-wheel drive system proved useful in various forms of racing.

And an Avant (Audi’s name for an estate car/station wagon). The coupé and convertible models were not badged as members of the range but shared the same platform and many parts.

In North America and Australia, the 80 was sold as the Audi Fox for model years 1973-79, and as the Audi 4000 for model years 1980-87 .

The previous KKK K03 turbocharger, although fundamentally unchanged, did receive some revisions on the turbine side to prevent cracking due to heat.[citation needed] The 12-valve V6 was replaced by the 30-valve unit which had been available in Europe for two years.

In 1999, Audi debuted an even higher performance RennSport model, the RS4 Avant, like its predecessor RS2, available only in the Avant bodystyle.

Audi AG since late 1994. The initial generation A4 succeeded the four previous generations of the Audi 80. Wanting to keep a sports-saloon in their lineup, the company made small revisions to what was previously known as the Audi S4, renaming it the Audi S6; the S4 name would eventually be re-used for a completely different model derived from Audi’s smaller Volkswagen Group B platform-based Audi A4. As this was the first S6 model from Audi, it is commonly referred to as the Ur-S6, derived from the German augmentive, “Ursprünglich” (meaning: original).

It was available as both a saloon/sedan (typ 4A5), and an “Avant” (typ 4A9) (estate/wagon) to European and United States customers, but only as a saloon in Canada, Asia and Australia. Audi’s trademark “procon-ten” safety system was standard fitment.

Mid-size luxury executive car produced by German automaker Audi.[1] It went on sale in 1994, shortly after the “A6″ designation was introduced, replacing the “100″ nameplate. The original S6 (Ur-S6) was largely the same car as the outgoing, original Audi S4 (C4) (Ur-S4), with the only visible differences being new body-cladding and badging.

Standard roadwheels are 18 inch alloys (8½ x18″ “9-spoke”), with 255/35 ZR18 high performance tyres. Optional “winter” alloy wheels were also available, at 18 inch (7½Jx18″), with 225/40 R18 92V tyres.

S4 Avant, the aerodynamic modifications achieved a drag coefficient of Cd 0.34. Although the B5 S4 came in a saloon car body style, the B5 RS4 was only available in the Avant version.

Luggage space, measured according to the industry standard VDA method is 390 litres (13.8 cu ft) with the rear seats in the upright position, and 1,250 L (44.1 cu ft) with the seats folded flat.
