New Audi A6 2.0TDI Limited Edition
15th November 2008
Joining the UK Audi A6 range this week is the “Limited Edition” model that’s defined by a series of interior and exterior upgrades. Available exclusively in conjunction with the frugal 2.0-litre, 140Hp TDI diesel engine, the new Limited Edition model features 18-inch twelve-spoke alloys, Milano leather and a new DVD satellite navigation, which incorporates an upgrade to a seven-inch high resolution colour monitor for the Multi Media Interface control system and a six-disc CD changer.
Following several months of number-speculations, Audi has released official details on its highly anticipated 3.0 TFSI V6 engine that will power several vehicles in its line-up. The 3.0 TFSI V6 engine that combines the use direct injection and compressor supercharging is rated at 290Hp at just under 5,000 rpm while it delivers its maximum 420Nm (309.78 lb-ft) of torque at 2,500 rpm and maintains this constantly until 4,850 rpm.
Based on the Audi A5 Coupe 3.0 TDI, the White Speed is Senner Tuning’s latest offering. The German tuner has supped up the A5 Coupe’s appearance with the addition of a full bodykit that sports carbon-fiber elements combined with new 21 inch alloy wheels.
Although ABT is still working on the A3 Convertible’s optic package, the German tuner has revealed details on the available mechanical upgrades for Audi’s newest soft-top that competes against the BMW 1-Series Convertible. Starting off with ABT’s basic “Power” pack, the 1.8 TFSi’s output is raised to 200Hp (from 160Hp) while the 2.0 TFSi delivers 240Hp (from 200Hp).
The German luxury automaker managed to sell more than 516,000 cars to customers worldwide between January and June (2007: 508,842), thus not only representing a gain of 1.4 percent compared with the first six months of 2007, but according to Audi, it’s the company’s best first half-year in history in terms of deliveries. Audi expects that the second half of the year will be even better as it will release the revised A3 and A6 models along with the all-new Q5 compact SUV.
Inspired from the Auto Union race cars of the 1930s, designer Lukas Vanek created a modern interpretation of the Type-D. The young designer from the Czech Republic proposes that the 21st century Auto Union Type-D should use carbon fibre composite materials for the structural support of the car and metal for the exterior body parts. According to Vanek, the Type-D has been designed to fit a 650Hp 6.5-liter V12 engine right behind the driver offering a theoretical top speed of 186 mph or 300 km/h.
Wheelsandmore is a relatively unknown German tuning firm that specializes on high-end sportscars. Their latest proposition concerns the Audi R8 coupe for which they have developed a series of upgrades. Starting off with the R8’s 4.2-liter V8 engine, Wheelsandmore reprogrammed the ECU and added a new, handmade stainless steel exhaust system with valve control. As a result, output has been raised by 37Hp to 457Hp.
For those of you that have been closely monitoring the VW Group’s moves in the powertrain department the past decade or so, it comes to no surprise that Audi decided to replace the A5 Coupe’s entry level 170Hp 1.8 TFSI petrol engine with a new 180Hp 2.0 TFSI unit in less than a year after its introduction.
Audi has announced pricing for its all-new A4 range with the sedan version starting at $32,700 and the Avant at $34,500. The A4 sedan will be offered in the States with either the 211HP 2.0 TFSI 4-cylinder engine or the 265HP 3.2 FSI V6 engine. The 2.0TFSI engine can be configured for front-wheel drive or with Audi’s quattro all-wheel-drive system while the 3.2 FSI is offered exclusively with all-wheel-drive and a 6-speed Tiptronic transmission.
We’re not sure whether this posting from the Cincinnati area Craigslist is the work of a prankster or if it’s the real deal, but either way it made our day so we thought we’d share. Here’s an extract from the seller’s posting:
“Tired of not getting any respect when merging into traffic with your Prius? THIS IS YOUR CHANCE TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT. Your Yuppie friends will love it because it’s an Audi Station Wagon, your Red Neck Cousins will love it because its boss as boss can be.
